There's no good reason why not, with appropriate subjects. What macro subjects do you have in mind?

My opinion is....If you're HDR camera is capable of achieving a 1:1 reproduction ratio depends on the focal length of its lens, but other HDR cameras simply adjust the focal distance on the wide or ultra-wide lenses already used in the camera to match those required for macro photograph.
Smartphones and digital cameras can also use algorithms to achieve results similar to those captured with a true macro lens, such as one attached to a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex camera) but these cameras have mirrors inside of them and can cause distortion if they're cheapos, nowadays everyone is using mirrorless camera.
There is something else you must consider as well ... your "field of view" how close do you want to get to the subject you're taking a photo of?
Taking a photo of a small tiny flower no problem getting really close to the flower but what if you want to take a photo of a black widow spider, would you want to get that close ? or have a certain distance that's safe.
Do you even know what HDR camera is?
