Stumped... can someone identify this surface mount component?

It's got 3 legs (sot-323) and is marked with a PMMQ. It is also marked as "U" on the circuit board. Is anyone familiar with this component?

Thank you!

U on a PCB "normally denotes an IC rather than a transistor which are normally denoted Q and sometimes T or TR

maybe its a 3 pin regulator ? show us a sharp and well lit pic

Hi,

Thank you for your reply and help! Here is the picture you asked for. One more thing... it reads PMMQ. I've seen them read other markings as well.

the component in the pic is too messy with solder flux or something to read anything on it

cant help any further
maybe you can search for a circuit diagram for the unit whatever it is ??
you may need to go to the manufacturer

Can you post a decent resolution pic of the entire board? Or at least the area of the board where the mystery part is?

What is the board from? What does it do?

The chip has a number on it, "PMMQ". It stems from the main microchip. That is really all I know. Obtaining circuit diagrams aren't really possible. It's for an appliance. Any suggestions?

There is nothing on it, other than "PMMQ".

OK then as I suggested earlier, you may need to go to the manufacturer of the equip and see if a schematic is available
