1. Post your schematic and parts list.

Your photo has no part numbers, no component values, and no other useful information. Also, what is a 9-way clap switch? There is only one microphone visible, no relay, and no power supplies or batteries. What is it the circuit is supposed to do?

Good for you! Mmmm... what is a 9 way clap switch circuit?

I am not understanding how to connect the relay to the circuit. And am not getting LED flashes on clapping
Does this mean your design is <gasp!> defective? It appears there are three LEDs on your breadboard and two of them are illuminated for some reason. Are you hoping to get LED flashes on clapping from the third (dark) LED? What does this have to do with the relay circuit? I don't see no stinkin' relays on your breadboard!

Please follow suggestion #1 posted by @AnalogKid in post #2 above.

Same question : what is a 9 way clap switch ? I think you mean something that triggers a relay when you clap your hands, but 9 way ?

Also, you should not strip your wires that much, that greatly increases the chances of a short circuit in case 2 wires touch each other

I bet my dog can activate those relays. Even though my dog cannot clap!

Tells it all . . .. .
Sure does! After visiting the link you posted, why would the OP need any help from us here on EP? I hope he appreciates your link as the solution to all his problems.

The circuit with the old 7490 counter IC is missing a supply bypass capacitor and is missing diodes across the relay coils. The 7490 is shown with its positive supply pin 5 disconnected and its clock pin "powered" from the positive supply. The 7490 also has TWO pin 1's connected in different places.

I don't know which will be zapped first from the high voltage spikes produced by the relay coils without the important diodes. I think both the transistors and the LEDs will be zapped, but the wrongly connected 7490 won't work anyway..
