120 watt solar panels

Also consider Sharpe 200 Watt panels cost some thing close to $800 but worth
it...I got 4 of it and keep adding it gradually to built my system upto 2000
watts

17.6 volts x 6.82 amps = what?

except that you never get 6.82 Amps @ 17.6 Volts,,,,17.6 volts is open
circuit voltage, and 6.82 Amps id Short circuit Amps...... you can't
get both conditions at the same time.........

do the math...Read the Spec's.......

Perhaps, but those numbers are the way every panel I've looked at
has been rated.

Read the spec's what? Oh, the specs.

I've got Evergreen, BP, Siemens and Sharp panels and the Evergreens seem as
good as the others.  The only thing wrong with the particular deal was that
the price is nothing special.

Hi Frank,

A couple of days ago I took a good look at the panels on Ebay and
frankly did not find them cheaper than some of the retail sites I have
been looking at like, for instance, www.solar-electric.com who have
Kyocera 130 Watt solar electric panel for $595 and they have Evergreens
for a lot less. And solar electric folks have been in business for
quite a while.

Yeah. I don't know kyocera - I doubt they're worth that much more than
Evergreen. I like Evergreen. I like eBay too, but I don't buy PV panels
from there any more (I think I got a couple - no problem, it's just not the
place for good deals on PV panels).

Well, actually no. they are not better than most:

Sharp Solar and Kyocera panels have a +10%, -5% max tolerance.
Evergreen is +/- 10% tolerance.
BP Solar is +/- 9%
Shell Solar is +/- 5%

I'm not sure how important that is to the average user.

That's good, since I clearly didn't say they _were_ better than most. As
for the actual quoted tolerances, it's not really relevant unless you know
the distribution of individual panel ratings within that tolerance. If
it's a normal distribution (probable - that's why it's called "normal"),
then the majority of panels are in the middle of the range, anyway.

I might add that if you don't know about kyocera panels, then don't be
crtical of them!

Man, you have got to learn not to read more into newsgroup posts than was
written - otherwise it'll drive you crazy. I wasn't in the slightest
critical of the kyocera - I merely pointed out that there was no likely
reason to pay a bonus for them.

Nobody asked you to pay a "bonus". What WAS pointed out to you was that
the 130 watt Kyocera was CHEAPER than the 120 watt Evergreen.

Only when buying from two different sources. I bet you can't find me a
supplier who carries both and charges more for the Evergreen.
How is spending less for more watts paying a bonus??

Since neither you nor Mr. Greenwood are any good at quoting, here's what he

"... and they have Evergreen for a lot less". Do I have to repeat that,
again? If so, and Evergreen's a fine product, then why not buy the
Evergreen? I'm sure there's nothing wrong with Kyocera - but I'm not
paying extra to get them.

I hope this info was helpful inspite of a demonstration of small
mindedness in one of the posts. Expressing a preference of solar panel
over another in this group apparently is heresy and as such will be
following with a public flogging and possible excommunication from the
group ;^)

Huh? I was the one who got flogged, and I wasn't expressing a preference.
