13vdc to 11vac conversion

I am seeking a way to replace the inverter/wallwart solution I am
using. I have tried powering the device with the 13vdc, but it does
not function properly. I believe the satellite tuner inside requires
29vdc and they are making it from the ac voltage.
Is a circuit to accomplish this conversion a simple project, or does
an off the shelf product exist? The current requirement of the ac
supply is quite low.

Thanks for any help.

Commercially avbailable power invertor to change the 13 VDC source to 110
VAC to poer the device. Price them and you may just find it more effecient
to just replace the reciever.

Is this device on a vehicle of some kind? IOW, is 13 VDC all you have?
It sounds like what you have is the closest to an off-the-shelf item
as you're going to get. Depending on what the 11VAC drives, it
could be pretty simple to build just a chopper or something, where
the equipment's input transformer serves as the chopper's output
load.

Lessee ... yeah - an LMC555 and any ol' power MOSFET and a flywheel diode.
Adjust Ra and Rb for the duty cycle that works the best. Or if the input
isn't isolated, then you'll need a transformer of some kind, which won't
need to be very big.

Good Luck!

The unit is a very simple 950-1450 spectrum analyzer, the DC is coming
from a 7ah gell cell, it outputs composite video. After reading the
thread about the game console, I am assuming the video section needs
the 60hz to properly display now.

I'm sorry, but I'm really having trouble grasping what you're trying
to accomplish here, and what you're working with.

Where's the 60 Hz coming from _now_?

Please draw me a word picture (or ASCII art diagram) of what you
have now (i.e., how many boxes, their names, what's connected to
where, what you want different about it, stuff like that. I may
be deep, but I'm slow. ;-}

Thanks!

A 110v to 11vac wall plug transformer, powered by a small 100watt DC
to AC inverter which is powered by a small battery.

I am trying to eliminate the inverter and wall plug with a direct
conversion of 13VDC to 11VAC.

I'm really bad at that, but will do it if the above description isn't
good enough.

I have been thinking, if I could modify a small inverter to produce
the 11volts AC, as opposed to the normal 110 I could probably be
happy.
Is this possible?

But, isn't that what you already have, just in two boxes? Open
both boxes, and find someplace to hide the wall wart transformer
inside the inverter box, or put them both in one new box - it'll
be MUCH easier and cheaper than trying to modify the inverter itself.

Good Luck!
