2... Removing Magnetic Shunts??

I read a very good analogy of Magnetic Shunts at the Pupman site where it
was discussed that the shunts were like putting a large inductor in series
with an Ideal transformer, diverting a portion of the flux back to its
source.

By removing the shunts, I assume the full rated KVA of the transformer is
available? My question is: What are the negative effects (if any) of this
action?

My first guess would be that the transformer is already running at it's
rated KVA with the shunts installed. If it weren't, it would have been
made smaller until it was.

As long as you don't remove too many shunts, nothing bad will happen.
I know of a few coilers that run 60ma neon sign transformers up to
200ma.

I think you're confusing what can be done by overloading a transformer
with the RATED capacity of the transformer. You get the "most" out of a
transformer just before it catches fire.
