Hi,

I'm looking into using the 24EP256GP206 in a project. Part of this project involves rendering graphics onto a colour OLED display.

I have used 18F series PICs before and have had them running at up to 64Mhz @ 16MIPS.

As i haven't used the 24 Series PIC i'm not sure how the oscillator works exactly. In order to achieve the 70MIPS stated by microchip what frequency will i need the main oscillator to be running at. I'm assuming that PLLx4 would be used somewhere in this setup.

The PIC24 series has a very flexible PLL that has a multiplier and divider allowing you to generate nearly any frequency you want. Typically you would use a 4 or 8 MHz crystal.

if you haven't started yet, why not use the pic32 series? they have even started doing 200MHz ones now.

I agree PIC32 is proably the better option for Graphics although a PIC24EP is a very good mcu
