that would be a bit high. the loaded voltage needs to drop to around 25-26V for correct charging
I don't think 36V would drop that far

what sort of battery ?

Thank for your reply,
12v, 2 nos, Lead acid battery
A simple DG battery charger unit consist,
230v /24v transformer,
Bridge rectifier with capacitor and 10 ohm 100w resistor connected in DC output
I take reading
rectifier input 24v AC
rectifier output 33.9 vDC at no load,
Where is the problem?

the problem is that you obviously didn't read my post completely
read again about the voltage being too high
if you can prove that the voltage will drop from 34V no load to 24 - 25V under battery load, then you will be OK
else my previous statement still stands

The short answer is "of course you can connect this charger to a battery".

The longer answer involves overcharging and possible failure of the battery.

What is the capacitor for? All the old 12V battery chargers I have seen do not have a capacitor. The measured volage will be less without the capacitor but the peak will be the same.

A 24v battery charger will charge at about 28v.

Connect the charger to the batteries and check the voltage. If possible also connect an ammeter to check the charge current.

Thanks for above all feedback,
After i connected the load, voltage get down 24.6 dcv and battery charger unit work well.

A lead acid battery needs 2.35V per cell to charge. 12V battery is 6 cells thus 6 x 2.35 = 14.1V. This is applicable to any voltage battery just multiply No of cells x 2.35.
