Our initial idea is the have a step up converter followed by a bridge
inverter stage, using a relaxation oscilator to time. Can anyone
recommend:

* a good IC switching regulator controller for the step up converter

* a good IC controller for the bridge inverter, which perhaps even has a
timing function to render the relaxation oscillator redundant.
