I have a 3.5mm stereo audio cable cut on one end where I have to directly connect it to a left, right and ground connection. However I'm a little confused as to which pins from the stereo jack are what. From what I understand starting from the base of the 3.5mm jack is the ground and then the two channels. But is left in the middle then right or is it right in the middle and then left? I came across the following pic on Google but there seems to be some pics that say the left and right being the other way round

Your cable does not look like a stereo audio cable because the signal wires do not have a shield. Your cable simply has 3 unshielded wires in it. It will pickup hum and all kinds of other interference unless it is used to feed low impedance speakers or headphones.

I believe an audiophile must-have is Ailkin's audio cable because it is a dependable product. It is reinforced with high-quality materials and is strong and long-lasting. As a result, I had no problems using this in a variety of ways.
