I am trying to locate a 500 ohm linear potentiometer with a switch. Here is a brief summary of what I need in this potentiometer. Does anyone know where I can buy such an item? I have looked and looked, but can't find it.

1. 500Ohms (could be 400 or 600 Ohms, but needs to be around 500)
2. Linear
3. Has a switch
4.The shaft should have ridges for a plastic knob.
5. Top Adjust
6. Base diameter 17mm
7. Shaft length about 12mm
8. Turn range should be about 240-270 degrees max.

All of the requirements are critical as I am looking for a replacement potentiometer for a toy of my son's. I have attached a picture so you all can see what I need to replace.

Thanks in advance!

Yes. Maybe I just overlooked one, but I don't think so.

I can find ones that are close to what I need. Usually, I can find 500 ohms with the mechanical configuration I need, but I have trouble finding one with a switch.

I know they must exist, because I pulled one out of this toy!

but .... they may only exist as a specilist part made specifically for that item and not for the general market

Im not saying that's the reason in this example, but its a possibility you need to keep in mind

You very well may be right! I was hoping someone would say, "Oh yes, here is where you find those." But I probably won't get that lucky. :)

well if digikey, mouser or RS components or possibly Farnell cannot supply it ( they are the 4 largest supplier of components) your chances will be pretty low
470 Ohm would be the standard value closest to 500 Ohm

the only other way would be to rat one from an old transistor radio or some other gear

Digikey lists two single turn 500 ohm pots with switches. (I also looked for 470 ohm).

Neither have the fluted shaft.

This and this.

Mouser have one, it's not a stocked item, and the shaft is the wrong type.

I agree, it's not looking good.

Switched pots are becoming more of a rarity these days.
