I am in need of an 8-position rotary or slide switch for a project I'm
doing and am having trouble finding a manufacturer who produces such a
switch. Do you have any suggestions on where to look?

This is the first place I looked, A more thorough search for electronics
component distributors might turn up a better price.

You buy a 10 or 12 position rotary switch (which are fairly standard)
and there's a little stop which you set to make it into an 8-position
(or whatever)

Usually you get a choice of 12 pos 1 pole, or 6 pos 2P, or 3 pos 4P,
in the same range.
