Science experiment: Is it safe to use an AC Adapter set to put out 12V instead of 8 D cell batteries assembled in a series?

Background:
I’m doing a science experiment “How to Make a Light Bulb”
http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/experiment/build-a-light-bulb-circuit-science

All the plans I see for this experiment call for 8 D cell batteries (assembled in a series so they put out 12 V). Where I live that is very expensive. But I have a AC Adapter (Universal Power Supply) which can put out 12 V.

Is it safe use my AC Adapter instead of the 8 D cell batteries? I’m a total beginner and I want to make sure I don’t blow all the fuses in my building.

hi there
welcome to the forums :)

yup no problem there, the plugpack output just needs to be 12V DC and probably ~ 500mA ( 0.5 Amp)
