It is a small area of coating on the screen that got scratched off.

Does anyone know how and how much it would cost to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Replace the crt. The non-glare coating probably has sustained damage and
maybe even the front glass of the crt. Only real way to fix it is to replace
the CRT, cost wise it may be less expensive to replace the monitor.
Attempting to polish the scratch out will only produce more damage to the
non-glare coating.

This is not repairable. You would have to replace the CRT, or in the case of
an LCD, you would have to replace the panel. This is not cost effective. If
the monitor is fairly new, then this is a loss. If it is an older one, it
may be time to upgrade.

I've had limited success with CRT's by polishing off the anti glare coating
entirely, I generally prefer monitors without coatings anyway, though with a
flat screen that might really pose a glare problem.
