Hello guys
I have an ac 240v electric motor with 3 wires coming from the windings.
Yellow, Orange and blue.
I would like to convert same to a sander. How should i use these wires to power the motor without causing any harm.??
I know nothing about motors.
Thanks in advance.

Check the winding resistance, you most likely have a common point and possibly two different resistance values for each winding, you will need a start capacitor to connect in series with the highest value winding, do you know if it has a start switch?
What is the HP and RPM?

If you know the model of the W.M. it came from, you may be able to find the Capacitor value needed for the start winding. From a manual on the WEB.

Could be like these ........

If you know where it came from originally or if there is a nameplate etc. that might help.
It's really a bit like asking for a wheel for a car.
As for the colours, that only applies in MacGyver tv shows I'm afraid.
Thanks..
