adding components to pspice

I would to know if it is possible to add components into pspice 9,2?
I would like to add the LM2587 for drawing a circuit and this part is not
included in pspice.
I looked on their web site and there does not seem to be a part list
database to add to the software.
So anyone know how or know of a more complete software that does simulation
?

thanks

Are you using PSpice Schematics or OrCAD Capture? Student or full
version?

so I guess I should change?

PSpice allows you to add library components, which although a bit
fiddly is not really a problem. The simplest way is probably to get
hold of the necessary subcircuit from the device manufacturer and add
it with a text editor to one of the existing parts libraries. Then
borrow a symbol from another op-amp to make the connections.

Yes. The SuperSpice demo allows far more components (30*25=750). It is
also much, much easier to use. Adding new models is a simle drag an
drop.

I'm uncertain, but I don't believe you can add parts to the student
version.

Do I have to build what I want from scratch or do I download some file ? if
so where ?

Component mfgs supply spice models/subcircuits and IIRC, you can
just drag and drop them from explorer into SS.

Yes.

For .models symbols are automatically attached, for .subckts, it will
take you via the GUI to select an existing symbol when you try to place
the .subckts.

Ammm....never read signatures?

I believe the original enquiry was for models and subcircuit additions
to pspice.

Not SS.

If you want him to follow your line of thougfht, you will have to
explain the relationship between the two versions.

Not SS.

If you want him to follow your line of thougfht,

Er.. It seemed pretty clear that the poster was asking where to download
SS.

..you will have to
explain the relationship between the two versions.

Why?

Sure you can! I wish he had said which one, though. The process is
different whether it is Schematics or Capture.

First, get a model for the part off the web somewhere. There are lots
of different sources. When in doubt, go to the manufacturer...

Give the file a .lib extension.

In Schematics, go to File/Edit Library. This starts the symbol editor.
Then, go to Part/Symbol wizard, choose From a model library, and
follow the instructions.

If you have Capture, start the PSpice Model Editor, and load the .lib
you created. Go to File/Create Capture Part, and it will create a part
for all the models in the library.

That's it, pretty much...

Except that Capture SUCKS !-)
