Adding Pre-Out / Main-in to an integrated amplifier ?

Is this possible with an older amplifier (ca. 1992)?
Classic design, Sony TA-F590ES, with motorized volume control.

I won't be able to do the work myself, but would like to know what's
involved in it, and if the result can be 100% satisfactory?

Is getting the service manual required before starting? (not very
easy, in France)

One should have the manual and, yes, it is doable. However, imho, it
is hardly worth the effort, especially if you have to pay for it and
not DIY.

You will definitely have to invest in the service manual to start with. As
for doing the proper design, purchasing of the parts, and then building the
proper circuits for this, the end would not justify the cost. If the design
and construction of what is required is done properly, you will have
satisfactory results.

You can buy ready made amplifiers that have a preamp out, and were
originally factory designed that way. This would be the better option than
modifying an older amplifier that was not designed to work with this type of
option.

Thanks for the information.

I am trying to keep alive some devices I like and have used for a while.
(Incidentally, I would recycle an existing "accessory loop" for the
Pre-out/Main-in cinch connectors, so no "drilling" is involved.)

Just for my information, now:

As a total non-expert, I imagine that, in a classical integrated amp,
the volume control is the last component in the pre-amp part, and what
comes next, on the signal path, belongs the power-amp part.

Is that correct?

Beyond intercepting the wires out of the volume control, and redirecting
them to to the pre-out connectors, etc., what else needs to be done, in
general? Is there some sort of "buffer" that needs to be implemented
between the volume control and the pre-out jacks?

Thank you for your insights.

You really need an experienced eye to decide where to add these connectors
and what else needs to be done. Post a circuit diagram and several of us
could tell you where to add them. Note that this is not a binary group - a
link would be best.

Following, your advice, I have posted the diagrams (and made the
question more specific) in a new thread:
