Also total nonsense. Cometary brightness models are not perfect but
basically they do work according the expected volatility of their
constituents. We can actually see two clear tails on comets. One of
light ions that pretty much points directly away from the sun and is
blueish, and a second heavier white dust tail that sits along the
trajectory of the comets movement give or take a bit of drift from the
influence of light pressure.

Hale Bopp showed both tails very clearly and was a naked eye object to

It also helped eliminate one cult of delusional nutters (Heavens
Gate). Darwin award and bar.

Modern spectroscopy allowed the tails to be analysed remotely. We have
even flown spacecraft into comets.


This is Velikovskyism in some new age form. Barking mad isn't quite
rude enough to describe it.
And almost as delusional as Nancy and the Zetas or Ed Conmans "Man as
Old as Coal" claims.





Only by replacing it with total bullshit.

Fortunately for the benefit of the skeptical and curious, this
Electric Universe
nonsense is being addressed by a real astrophysicist, Tom Bridgeman,
who
has two webpages criticizing the ideas of Don Scott and Wal Thornhill
(who
claims to be an Australian physicist; but after getting his B.S. in
physics in
1964 spent his entire career as a computer systems engineer with
I.B.M. and
the Australian government). Scott is a real retired professor of
electrical
engineering at U. Mass-Amherst, but he does not know squat about fluid
dynamics, just as was the case with Ralph Juergens, the originator of
the
E.U. model in 1967, especially the ability for order to emerge from
chaos,
as explained in the November 2008 Scientific American, and why
therefore
despite the turbulent Reynolds Number in the photosphere, the
"orderly"
granulation does not mean that convection is absent in the
photosphere.
