Thank you all , esp James , for your patient help with solving the problem with my amp. I ordered two new IC's and when tested they gave different readings to both the ones removed. So I replaced with new. Switched on and it works and sounds better than ever.....

What am I going to do next ? I think I may have discovered a new hobby....
