As the title suggests...

An online government, think of a massive forum except each state/suberb is a subsection of the forum where everyone in that suberb controls that suberb through voting and discussion, the treasury is split up, into smaller amounts and spread out, this is a radical idea but we bring back the true meaning of forums, end result would be huge (absolutely huge) savings and next to no corruption as everyone can be in control not just the elite few...

Welcome to the world of bots and tons of attempted credential theft.
When a botnet can vote for someone or something, I want to steer so very far away.

I did think of that for regional planning and discussion though.

You're thinking a traditional forum such as this one now, no, absolutely not!

The post office is issued with cards and peoples names (maybe that/drivers licence combo)

The servers can only be accessed by computers inside America/uk/australia, the unique id number issued is the only way in, any replication would be flagged instantly and that person would be contacted or simply suspend the account / contact via email

The "government" would simply consist of embassy members to go to other countries / nations, then two or three IT specialist in networking, hardware etc can maintain these servers with money to spare to pump back into health and education

The government (if you can still call it that) does the minimum required to keep relations with other countries, they can then feedback information to the forum and humans who care vote, if nobody does vote the embasador will but only on unimportant decisions..

Defence can just be another building where people get employed, they return feedback and in an emergency sms messages could be sent out, eg incoming missile from north korea , we have deployed a rocket to destroy it...
vote yes to nuke n korea
Vote no to not

The whole nation then decided what's best, specific parts of the government that we need can simply be run like the post office if buildings are required to service people (army/navy) they do their job give us the most informed info we can and we all vote, if it's a local issue eg, the kids at number 9 keep destroying the kids park

State - suberb - have a local discussion with others, come up with a resolution and then a vote, money can be diverted from the local treasury amount for that suberb eg money used to install a camer or to employ security

The more well off can login as well but because it's a forum they could donate money to other members to do a job, the community stars them for the jobs they do creating employment

The more the community does and donates the more people change suburbs, it all becomes self regulating, customed for the people who live there and their needs

Let's say in darlington 80% of people want euthanasia but the state/the rest that % becomes less than 30%

Darlington the suburb can vote for euthanasia, the law passes, others flock there.. at the moment it's 1 size shoe fits all!

issue I have with this is that its a computer environment. to date I have heard of nearly every type of site being hacked, taken down etc.
lets say for example we put it up.
to save costs (as governments do) they outsource it to india. india signs a allegiance to North korea. North korea launches a missile and india's servers are all of a sudden down for maintenance
another thing to consider is the countries that we fear the most are using cyber hacking as a form of destabilisation. and you want to give them our government on a computer?
then to top it all off, the Australian NBN sucks, and the downtimes are really bad.....
I can't think of a positive here at all

The point of not wasting $$$, $$$, $ so some of it can be put into hardware and software, geofenced and on top of that unique ids are issued...

If the concern is purely security, the system would have to be developed ground up, i'm not saying this would be easy, but there would be many levels of security in place to ensure hacking is a very small risk

1984 in 2016.
Sure would be interesting to see everybody agree and cooperate. And then ensure the elites couldn't hijack the whole shebang.
Ultimate control, why didn't somebody already think of that?

personally I think a government would be better run if rather than electing 1 of the idiots that had enough money to put their ugly mug on the TV so the less intelligent people that sit down all day instead of actually working get that persons head put in their subconscious, we elect those that have actually completed the following criteria
A) at some point has put someone else's welfare above their own
B) has been down and out at some point
C) has the respect of the majority of people
D) speaks like they are intelligent
E) has the basic ability to make logical decisions based on information given

look at the politicians around and name someone that fits that description.
oh and lastly why the heck do we get stuck voting on the guys that have money? then we pay their retirement fund... THEY HAD MONEY BEFORE. there are very few jobs I know that pay you after you end your job like politicians

Perhaps it's as simple as other people not running?
This kid almost got 10% and he certainly didn't have funds for advertising xD

C'mon. It's all about celebrity now.
If you look pretty, talk eloquently, and tell people what they want to hear; SOME big money-guy will fund you if you'll work that guy's interests. The puppet doesn't need to be rich, he just needs backers who are.
Being a politician, making decisions about where gov't money will be spent before anybody else knows, is how
to invest and get rich while the puppets mark time in office.
It's a lost cause to hope for somebody these days who feels compelled to be a citizen-statesman, repaying their
good fortune to their fellow citizens for ethical reasons. There's no incentive for that today.
