Hi,

I have tried to fix an electronic device and inside I found a bed component, I think the component is a type of inductor but I can’t found anywhere the specific type, there is an L mark next to the component and he was soldered where the X is on the circuit, does anyone know what the component type is? Or maybe which other component can I solder instead?

Thanks

Hi Aron, welcome to EP. Does it have 3 legs, I can't see that clearly from the pictures? If it does it could be a small auto transformer. What is the device it's out of?

Hi Adam, the component have 4 legs and he lock like radial inductor, the device is not to complicate, just a few leds connected together and a blower

With four leads it is probably a ferrite-core transformer. Good luck trying to find another one exactly like it. Are you sure it is bad? Make continuity tests on all possible combinations of leads, measuring two at a time: 1&2, 1&3, 1&4, 2&3, 2&4, and 3&4.

There should be continuity on two of the pairs. If one pair is open, you can try to determine how many turns of wire is on it and try to re-wind the winding with new wire of the same gauge. Or, if the open winding is on the bottom, rewind both windings.

OTOH, if you do measure continuity on two pairs of leads, there is probably nothing wrong with this transformer and your problem is elsewhere.

Ok Hop's probably right if it has 4 legs. Can you see what it looks like it's connected to on the circuit. Can you take some more pictures of the circuit board?

Thank you Hevans1944 for your answer, there is a continuity on two of the pairs so I as you said the problem is elsewhere apparently.
