My dvr (dmr-9) suggests, in the instruction manual, that the menus can be
controled with a computer via RS-232 through a parallel port on the back.
There arent any instructions on how to do it though.

Can anyone send me a link on how to do this? also, the unit is broadcasting
over a BlueNet server. Is there any way i can get a remote computer to
control the dvr? If not, Im thinking of setting up VNC on a local
workstation next to the dvr.

The below manual shows the serial port control protocol You
probably can just use simple bach files to echo the bytes to the
serial port.

Update: After many long hours and failed attempts....

I was able to control the dvr unit on a local computer using "Hyperterminal"
which is built into Windows through a COM1 serial connection.

To control the dvr remotely, I installed VNC so changes can be made over the
internet from any pc.
