Looks like 2N170... to me as well.

Could be 2NI70... though.

(I'm being sarky..... all I see is the WORD 2N170. No picture)

This Transistor comes up as extinct.
It says that its:
PNP germanium junction transistor intended for audio preamplifier or audio driver applications and having a maximum power dissipation rating of 50 milliwatts or more

So whatcha think its replacement would be??

Practically any generic low power PNP germanium will probably work although, depending on the circuit, it might be simpler to redesign that particular part to use a silicon transistor.

GO to Digikey (or similar) and do a parametric search for 'transistor, PNP, Germanium, AF etc and see what pops up.

You'll probably have more luck searching on eBay though....

The 2N170 is NPN. The 2N107 was PNP.

The NTE101 is generally considered as a replacement for the 2N170.
