I’ll put my cards on the table. Trump to win.
I know, I know, put my own back yard in order first. But as we all know, governments don’t listen once elected. I have Boris who wasn’t elected by the people.
If Biden wins, I think you’ll get somebody else who wasn’t elected either, namely Kamala.
I have more questions than facts about all our politicians. I do know they all get rich on tax payers money. So really, they’re all ‘in it for themselves ‘ but what’s your opinion?.
How can Trump be blamed for forthcoming riots when riots have been going on for months?. Please tell me. I don’t understand.
The UK will stand against our government soon. It’s a simmering pot.

It was September 29, 1959, when Nikita Khrushchev delivered his prediction for America at the United Nations. At that time, just the word "communism" was feared throughout our nation. Remember this. Socialism leads to Communism How do you create a Socialist State?

There are eight levels of control:
1) Healthcare - Control healthcare and you control the people

2) Poverty - Increase the poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them.

3) Debt - Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.

4) Gun Control - Remove the ability to defend themselves from the government . That way you are able to create a police state.

5) Welfare - Take control of every aspect (food, housing, income) of their lives because that will make them fully dependent on the government.

6) Education - Take control of what people read, listen to and take control of what children learn in school.

7) Religion - Remove the belief in God from the government and schools because the people need to believe in ONLY the government knowing what is best for the people.

8)Class Warfare - Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor.
Eliminate the middle class. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to tax the rich with the support of the poor.

It's still up-in-the-air here, but the fact that the US election is so close, makes me figure the battle is, or soon will be, lost.
As for blame on the riots, see above.

I'm editing this post a few minutes after I listed it. I went back and found Kruschev's speech at the UN 29SEPT59, here's an excerpt:

Anyone who is younger than 60 years old should be aware of what former Soviet Prime Minister Nikita Khrushchev said during an address to the United Nations in 1959...."Your children's children will live under communism. You Americans are so gullible. No, you won't accept communism outright; but, we will keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you will finally wake up and find you already have Communism.

We will not have to fight you. We will so weaken your economy, until you will fall like overripe fruit into our hands. The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

It looks to me like old Nikki knew what he was talking about.

Seeing as it’s only a Trump/Biden fight, from what I’ve read and heard, you must be a Trump man.
Over here the UK news is so biased.
Thank heavens we have Sky Australia.

I don't much care for Trump, but I think he's done OK for the US for the past 4 years.
Most people I know are now in my boat concerning elections here.
We're not voting FOR somebody, we're voting AGAINST the other guy.
So this election isn't boiling down to who most of us support, it's mostly about who
we DON'T want as President.
I'm just waiting to see if Kruschev gets his prediction this election, or a future one.

That’s exactly what I meant by “only Trump/Biden fight”.
I am of the same opinion. It’s a choice of two, who don’t I want rather than want or support.

Just a note everyone
We dont normally allow political discussions as they can get heated/out of hand very quickly

keep it straight, factual talking and hopefully the thread can stay open a while :)

Politicians in high places don't get their money from taxpayers...well, not directly anyway.
They make money by using insider information to steer their investments and wield influence.

I like a lot of Trump policies but it's painful to listen to him ramble on with his inflated ego.
I Believe Biden is a corrupt empty suit who is starting to loose his grasp.
May as well call Harris President as she'll likely run the show.

There are brilliant people who would do a fantastic job as president, but they usually don't have enough money or clout to make it all the way.

I don't like the fact that the RNC and DNC choose who their going to run.
Why not put 2 Republicans and 2 Democrats on the bill and let the people decide?

No matter what side your on, I think we could've done better than Trump and Biden.

The election is over, and Biden won. According to what T***p said in 2016, Biden's margin of victory (306 electoral votes vs T***p's 232) is a "landslide".

Now we're just waiting to see how far T***p will go to attempt a coup, for the first time in USA history, by trying to pressure several state legislatures to appoint Electors who will vote as instructed by state legislature rather than the will of the people as expressed by duly counted votes.

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/19/how-electoral-college-works-437749

Our system of "electing the Electors" is complicated and leaves a glaring legal loophole for a party which is corrupt enough to simply ignore the will of the people as expressed by their votes. There actually is a legal path to keeping a president in office even when he lost the election, and it looks like T***p is trying to coax/pressure/cajole/convince his Republican allies in several states to do just that. He'll have to do it in several states (all controlled by Republicans) to make it work, but it IS possible. I'm really hoping that the prospect of public outcry will be enough to keep his Republican cronies from acquiescing, but the last 4 years of T***p's Party history isn't encouraging.

So in a word, no. The election is over, but the drama continues. T***p refuses to concede, is still blocking his administration from cooperating with Biden and his team in a smooth transition of power, and the Covid-19 hospitalization and death toll is _still_ mounting in the absence of any national strategy to ameliorate it, and Biden is being hamstrung in any preparations to tackle it as soon as he takes office (assuming the aforementioned coup fails, in which case, I wouldn't hold my breath for _any_ national strategy/program _ever_. Oh---sorry, poor choice of words.).

As it is, there will already be a considerable lag time between any successful national strategy/program and its effects. Making Biden wait weeks/months longer than necessary to implement his plan is going to result in considerable extra suffering and death. Somebody will probably find a way to tally up estimated numbers later.

I've mixed some opinions and facts here, but I'm pretty sure I got the facts right. If I got any of those wrong, I'm open to elucidation.

Well, welcome back to the world of grown-ups, America. You managed to get through the most embarrassing time of your political history. What on Earth were you thinking? The rest of the civilised world looked on in amazement.

If you think this was the most embarrassing time of our political history, I have to think you don't know a lot about American history. Not that I fault you for that ignorance, especially given that I know very little of the United Kingdom's history---which is, after all, part of my history, since I have a significant number of ancestors (that I know of) from what is now the UK. But I suggest you might do well to know more about a subject before making derogatory commentary.

That being said, I'll address your comment: First off, you seem to be addressing "America" as if we were unified in our decision to make #45 (i.e., our 45th president) our president. Most of us who voted for president voted for Clinton rather than #45. She got over 3 million more votes than he did. He won by the mechanism of the Electoral College (see my earlier reference to "Electing the electors"), which, as unwieldy as it may seem, is complicated further by Gerrymandering. But my point is that "we", meaning Americans, didn't all get together and say, "Hey, let's get [#45] to be our president this time!" On the contrary, most of us, by vote count, said just the opposite in 2016.

Now if you'll address your question to those who actually voted for him, and modify your comment to political history to that within living memory, then I'll wait along with you for anybody who cares to answer. A lot of us here (i.e., a lot of Americans) were also amazed that so many #45-voters continued to support him, and I'd be interested in knowing what they (#45 supporters, not Americans) were thinking.

Admonishment accepted and apologies to you.

I have been in contact with my friends in the USA throughout the Trump era and I am well aware that the majority of your country thought very little of, as one described him, the "Orange Cockwomble" and that he did not win the popular vote. My comment was meant to be a poke at the people who seem to think that somebody like Trump is anywhere near worthy of holding such an important position as he managed to. And I quickly add there are people like that everywhere in the world including my country, the UK.

And as another of my American friends said when Trump got in, "At least we will have an opportunity to get rid of him in four years time. You are stuck with Brexit!"

Our various forms of democracy have all their problems and compromises, but they are by far the best way of governing our complicated societies we have come up with so far. Hopefully we have all learnt something from this strange time .
