I have more pics at http://s1172.photobucket.com/albums/r561/mwildi/. it appears to be
a 120 - to 240 step up trans. Made in Korea and with the exception of the title
across the top on the words on and off by the switch/breaker everything is in korean.

the trans has 2 wires on one side and 5 on the other....ordinarily i'd assume the 2 were
primaries and the others secondary taps but the way its wired through the breaker (I have
no idea really whats in or output) it seems to be switching multiple primaries in and out -
The rotary switch is 5 throw single pole (only connects to one wire at a time plus off)

I'M DRAWING UP A WIRING DIAGRAM TO POST asap.

I think youre right - switching multiple primaries, but a pretty inefficient design if its for voltage selection (then again it is korean :D )

Let you hook up to different power supplies and output a steady voltage of 120 (or whatever they use over there) but where there are lugs on the back and not a plug scares me

I think the input would the 220 in the front. Last I knew the only country that had 120VAC was the USA. The fact that it is made with korean on the front would tell me it was meant to be used in korea.

It is kinda confusing

Easy way to test it: give it a low AC voltage at the socket and measure the terminals at the back

Input at the plug on front would not use the switch... seems like the gray wire has to
be hot. and it does say on it that it is 120 to 240....
