avalanche photodiode peripheral circuit

Im looking for a peripheral circuit for an avalanche photodiode (InGaAs
APD). No complicated design with bells and whistles, just the simple
over-current protective circuit, maybe including an Op-Amp.

Anyone have an idea or could point me to a book / paper or website ?
