sin is incorrect spelling, should be sine. as in sine wave or sinusoidal wave

a sin is when you do something bad

There is no difference.

A sinusoidal signal is the typical shape of AC voltage being provided to homes.
Sine, and a Cosine, are simply mathematical equations that happen to have a sinusoidal shape when graphed appropriately.
