By the way, does anyone recharge non-rechargeable batteries? About three years
ago when I was still a kid (age 14), I came up with this idea in a dream. Since
then I've recharged batteries at least hundreds of times and only have had
about 10 explosions. Any clue if this is wise to do?

Is not the term "explosion" a sufficent answer?

recharge non-rechargeable batteries?

Putting current into a battery which wasn't conceived
to be chemically reformulated by electrical action doesn't "recharge" it.

The best you can hope for is to heat it up enough
to stimulate a little more chemical activity from the reactants inside it.
You could do as well by just putting it near a heater.

You've already experienced the worst.

but since there are "Rechargeable Alkaline batteries", then should most
Alkalines be rechargeable to some extent?

Not quite correct.
What happens, is thebattery is depolarized, so that the remaining
chemicals can be used.
Note they cannot be *completely* used either.

No. Only depolarized.
The chemistry in the rechargeable alkalines is greatly altered from
that found in the standard alkalines.

So is there a way to recharge non-rechargeable batteries?
