how can I power a mini itx motherboard via rechargeable batteries just like a notebook? what would be the best battery type and what components would I need?

Use a picoPSU-90 for generating the board's voltages. Use a 12V lead accumulator to provide the primary power to the picoPSU.

thank you so much for the help. But I need something more portable. with lipo or nimh how could I make this work like a notebook?

how could I select the 12V? could I charge the battery and have it power the picopsu at the same time? is there any way to monitor the battery charge in %?
