bipolar stepper motor to parallel port

I have a bipolar stepper motor judging by its four wires and I need some help on how to connect this stepper motor to the pc besides using a parallel port? Please I need to know other ways to connect it to the laptop.

Edit: Because of cheap and very effective USB/Serial Converters RS232 is going to be viable for many years to come. The same can't be said about the Parallel Port. The USB/ParPort converters are not generic. Each one is designed to interface a particular or group of printers or other PP device.
