Hi all,

First post around these parts and hoping somebody can help...I'm going to be away from power for a while and need to power something which requires a 12v/1.5a power supply.

I have this USB power brick which outputs 5v/4a max and I'm wondering if using a boost/buck converter (something like the one below) I'll be able to produce [email protected]. My calculations and basic understanding of electronics make there to be just about enough power.

Could somebody clarify if this will be possible? The above converter is rated at 30w... the only other thing I'm unsure about is whether or not it'll accept and utilise the 4amp input. Any help and/or recommendations would be great. I've never dabbled with anything like this so any experience with the (reliability, efficiency etc.) would be great. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the swift reply Dave!

I assume I'll then have to use a USB plug rated at 4amps...any advice on good places to buy these components from in the UK?
