After using my BenQ MP720p XGA projector for about 20 hours, it fell
from the ceiling attachment and broke. The lamp still worked after it
fell but it didn't project an imgae through the lens.

I've had it shipped to a BenQ service center in Germany, and they
told me that the following need to be repaired:

Upper Case, Lower Cover, Mainboard, and Light Pipe Module, and
"Pauschale" need to be repaired. With work the total comes to $585. I
bought the projector for $1000.

BenQ in the US can't tell me anything without having the projector.
What do you think, is it worth being repaired? Should I just purchase
another projector?

Thank you,

Valbona

You have to ask yourself if you can get an equivalent projector for not
too much more. If you can, seriously consider going new. Once broken,
it's hard to completely trust a repair. (Something may have been missed.)

If they were giving you a new lamp for the $585, I would probably go
ahead. If they are giving you the old lamp back, even tho it only has
20 hours on it, I would probably get a new unit unless BENQ gave you
some sort of warranty.
