Camper Van Earthing

Hi.
I was wondering if anyone can offer some advice.
A friend of mine has aquired a VW camper van and is currently in the process
of wiring the interior for 230 volt mains hookup when on a campsite,
primarily for use in the UK.
I understand that it is the site owners responsibility to provide a safe
power supply along with a protective earth.
I believe that where the input connector is fitted to the side of the van,
The earth terminal should also be strapped to the vehicle bodywork so that
when connected on site, the vehicle body is at the same potential as the
surrounding earth. Similar to equipotential bonding within a building.
Could anyone please confirm that this is the case?
Many thanks for your help.

Regards. Len.

I would suggest that your friend consults the latest edition of the IEE
Wiring Regulations 16th Edition latest amendment. Especially section 7
"Special Locations".
I have a colleague at work who is a keen motorhome and caravan user. He
mentioned recently that a campsite he uses is now asking for proof of
PAT Tests on the 240v electrical appliances that are installed in the
vehicle, before they will allow you to plug into their supply.
