I'm designing a circuit that requires BC548, and the circuit is for amplification purpose. Can I replace it with 2N3906 and 2N3904?

The 548, 3904 are general purpose NPN transistors. The 3906 is PNP.The first two can be inter changed.
I think the BC series are common across the pond and 2N are Europe. I could be wrong though.

EDIT: The 548 is 100mA, 30V. The 3904 is 200mA, 40V. So compatible within the specs.

Thank you!! So BC548 can be replaced by 2N3904 but not 3906

Hello,

Here is a transistor table with some basic values.

Hello,

The BC558 (PNP) is complementairy with the BC548 (NPN).
The 2N3906 (PNP) is complamentairy with the 2N3904 (NPN).
The BC558 could be replaced with a 2N3906 as both are PNP.

The sequence of pins in a BC548 is CBE but the pins of a 2N3904 are EBC.

Hello,

Before the BC there was the AC.
The B = Silicium
The A = Germanium.
See also the link I posted before.
