Hi

I have a (I think so) very innvovative idea (patent pending) about an
electronic device. The potential market is very huge, of course if it
works + can be produced cheaply in mass production.
If someone of you would be interested in evaluating it from an
electronic point of you, please E-mail me (pizzi at hotmail.com). In
particular I'm looking for:
1. An evaluation of the idea
2. Someone helping me in the realization of a prototype cheaply (have
only a limited budget) or against a share in this venture

Thanks in advance

I have about a dozen of these million-dollar ideas a week, and haven't
found a sucker^H^H^H^H^H^Hventure capitalist yet.

Good Luck!

Too late, I already thought of that idea.
I will sue !

Hi

Uh-Oh!!
You know you can only legally claim ("Patent Pending") if you have
filed either a regular or provisional patent application. If you
merely intend to make such a filing in the future, you cannot legally
claim patent pending status.

Also, I am reasonably sure this prohibition extends to the USPTO
Document Disclosure program, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I
am wrong....

As for the "Uh-Oh!!" part... if you got to the filing stage, then you
should already have an excellent idea about the very questions you
ask, and probably even have the idea reduced to practice (??)

I suspect you have simply used the term improperly.
So, let me give you a few bytes of advice:

1 - NEVER build or design anything unless you have customers lined up,
or at the very least, have talked with several prospective purchasers.

2 - It always costs a lot more and takes a lot longer than you expect
- no matter what aspect of the project/venture you are contemplating.

3 - The easy part is coming up with the idea. If you sit quitely for
10 minutes or so, you can probably come up with a dozen good ones.
The hard part is turning those ideas into success stories.

4 - (I assume you are in the USA?) The "system" is designed to make
the process APPEAR mysterious and unapproachable by the untrained.
Once you recognize and accept this fact, you will realize it is all an
illusion. Except for complex "ideas" like DNA sequences or gelatinous
food products, (Ha!!), you can most almost certainly do the patent app
on your own.
For first timers, the PatentEase application is actually pretty good,
IMO. (~$80)?

5 - Read #1 again, and again, and again until it really sinks in.
Then, if you feel like making a go of it, you only live once! Best
of luck.

True.

The Document Disclosure program has been discontinued.

True. You cannot get a patent on an idea. You can only patent a
way of doing it.

Very true.

In order to get a good patent, you need to expect to do a lot of
work and study. I have filed some of my own patents. However, I have
run into a number of people who should probably let someone else do it
for them.

Filing your own patent is a ludicrous waste of time, energy, and sanity.

So.... what prevents this idea from being massively copied in China
and sold on Ebay?
Are you going to hop on a plane to China and sue Mr. Wang?

Instead of shooting your mouth off here you should have been spending your
time searching www.uspto.gov to make sure you do not infringe an existing,
still in force patent.

You have the horse and the cart mixed up.

The idea evaluation should take place LONG BEFORE you decide not to patent.
