Can't upload Avatar

When I try to upload an avatar from my pc, I get the message:-

"The following error occured:
The image could not be processed by the server. Please try another or contact the site owner."

As a new member, do I need a certain number of posts before I can use an avatar?

I was looking for a "site rules" post, or FAQ that might shed some light, but cannot find one.

Welcome to the forums . What type of image are you trying to upload as an avatar? Is it a .jpg, .gif or .png file?

It was a .jpg

I think it may be a problem with the image processing software on the server - I've tagged @eerob who controls the server, who can hopefully fix this for you .
