HELP, I'm a cruising sailor from West coast stuck in Indonesia with a broken auto pilot, I have a bad cap but can't figure out code:
0002
18Z1
HRL (or LRH the R and L are printed backwards)

Can anyone clue me in.

The symbol on the bottom of your description might be an Underwriter's Labs logo.
Ar you SURE this thing is a CAP?
A lot of devices anymore kind of look like caps at first glance.
They make a lot of electronic parts in Indonesia, somebody there in a repair shop might
be able to ID the device for you.

mystery capacitor

The previous poster has a good point. R U sure its a cap?
I say that 'cause it might be an inductor. They have more mass than caps and
have broken their internal wiring in my experience. Not only that I've confused
them in the past 'cause the upright style DO loo like a small electrolytic.
Clues to the mystery:
Is there a polarity mark (+ or -)?
Can you unsolder it and check continuity?
If you can find an older ohm meter (analog swing arm)
you might see a momentary swing towards zero then return
to infinite. That shows an electrolytic cap that's not shorted.internally.
If it swings to zero or close to it then it's most likely an inductor (or it
might be a failed electro cap). Look for bulging or expulsion around the
seals or top.
Good journey.
