My car has a factory fitted microphone. I want to try and use this microphone for my aftermarket head unit. Normally a microphone has only two wires but this one has 3. Red, White and Black. Does anyone know what the 3rd wire may be? Can i ignore the 3rd wire and leave it plugged in as it is and locate the 2 actual mic wires and connect it to a 3.5mm jack. Question is what two wires will be the actual microphone?

if you put it into the base of a transistor to a speaker youll hear feedback if the wire is the right one.

Any idea what the extra wire is? I’m thinking it’s chassis ground for some reason?
