As in the picture, the cassette player unit is dismantled from the main sound system. A black wire comes underneath the cassette control unit and it ends in a metal clip with orange plastic cover. I can't find a place to connect it. Any ideas please.b& o clip.jpg

the pic is a bit small and dark ... cant see the black wire you are referring to
how about doing some closer up pics of individual sections a bit larger and with more light :)

That looks like a crimped connector and most likely goes to chassis ground.
If you place the cassette near it's real location, you should see a spade terminal within reach of the connector.
Fortunately the wire is short so finding it should be fairly quick.
Look on the parts that have been removed too.

The left drawing shows the place to connect the flat crimp terminal to a metal spade.
Like Martaine says it is chassis ground.

Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for your help. I am glad to write that I successfully repaired it and now working fine. I made a short video clip of its operation. If interested, please watch it on Youtube, as follows.
