Cheapo Digital Thermometer/Hygrometer Repair

A couple of years ago I picked up a cheap Acurite digital temperature and humidity meter off Amazon. After about a year, the high/low temp display stopped working right. It just displays like a backwards "L" with segments that would turn that into a "9" being dimly lit. The thermometer and hygrometer (and accompanying high/med/low humidity display) and humidity high/low still work.

I haven't cracked open the case yet, but you think the problem is repairable? Is it probably the display or a more replaceable component? I could just as easily buy a new one but I just want to see if I can fix it for fun. Thanks!
