Is there really such a thing as a "code reader? I see one in the MFJ ads, but do they really work? With what limitations?
It makes me wonder if that might just be an easier way to get back into the speed range I had 25 or so years ago.
Should I invest or would it be a waste of time and finances?
I'm returning to cw, but with qrp abilities and not having very good luck with it so far. (Couple of months.)

There are computer programs to do this which can decode morse and other codings. I have not investigated them.

I made a morse code reader many years ago using a Acorn Atom (6502), The more I sent to it, the more accurate it became.:) I am now using the G4FON Koch morse trainer to try to relearn the code, I can manage about 2 minutes before the mind wanders.

I have an SDR receiver (self contained) that has a code reader as part of its built-in software and it's remarkably accurate.

Never use it though as I'm ex merchant navy and can read code to 50+ wpm (well, around 35 wpm at the moment, still getting back into the swing of it!).

There's no better code receiver than the human ear/brain.
