COMPACT Radio transmitter

Im trying to design a FM Transmitter that i could power with a battery for a few months that would broadcast a beep or a steady sound that could be picked up by an fm radio from about 300 yards away. I work a summer job at a park and my boss likes to randomly pop in. i was hoping i could glue something under his car or bumper so that if i kept a radio tuned to say 88.7FM i would hear a "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP...." when he got within a certain range. compactness, cost effectiveness and battery life are huge factors. i would think that the simplest noise would suffie even if it was just silence instead of the static a radio would pick up without a station.
