Computer CMOS battery

Hi.
I have a computer with a flat CMOS battery. The battery is a square,
4.5v alkaline. I don't have a replacement on hand, so can I use 3, 1.5v
AA batteries connected in series until I can find the correct replacement?

risky? maybe

any camera / computer / electronics store has those batteries...they are
absolutely everyone... for about $2

Nope, you are thinking of the 3v lithium button batteries. The OP is after
the older style square batter with the fly-lead attached.
