I want to power two 24v 50watt halogen lamps from a computer ATX power supply that I have rewired to provide 24volts output. The power supply shows that the +12v circuit is rated at 20amps and the -12v circuit is 1amp. What is the maximum load across the 24v that I can use?

Hello,

As the -12 Volts is only 1 Amp, you can have a max load of 1 Amp, so 24 Watts.

You could try a DC voltage step up module from Aliexpress to boost the +12v to the required 24v for the bulbs.

^ Or just get a mains voltage to 24VDC adapter and do without the computer PSU instead of a second regulated stage which probably drops efficiency and adds bulk.
