Hi people!

I want to use controllers that use the serial DB9 port, such as the Sega Genesis ones in the computer for emulators. I know there are USB to serial DB9 converters for sale, but I already have a port in the computer. I know it is not meant for controllers, but how could this be realised? Thank you!

If you already have a COM (DB9) port on the PC what else do you need?
If you don't have a COM port then often there is a plug on the PC MB for it.

The thing is I cannot plug the controller and play. The thing is not even detected. I want to know how and if it would be feasible to use one, just like when plugging one via USB.

You probably have to tell the emulator which COM port to use in the emulator settings. This thread shows how to find the COM ports available on your computer.
