controlling lights

Hey all,

I've been kicking around several ideas for having music influence 3 sets of lights ( low, medium, and highs). at first i was using sallen key active filters but just thought of something. i remember in my telecomm class we talked about tank circuits and how we can pull AM/FM signals out of carrier signals. Could this same idea be used to control lights are am I better off with the sallen key?

Are you trying to just make audio reactive lights or are you attempting to make frequency reactive lights?

Both are second order filters. The Sallen Key filters would be easier to adjust parameters like center frequency and Q.
