Good day all ,i hope someone will help me with a project .
I am trying to convert 220/240Vac to +/- 300Vdc +/- 50amp
anyone have any advice what to use ?
Thank you an advance
Hi Daven,hi
before I possibly close the thread, and before anyone else responds, you had better explain a few things
1) do you have the knowledge and comprehension of the power level you want to deal with ?
2) what are you trying to achieve ? that is, what do you want the 300V 50A for ? what is it going to power ?
3) where is the power being taken from ? are you at an industrial/commercial site ( usually lots of current capability mains supplies or at home, where you would not be able to do what you want to ? .... See @kellys_eye 's comments
So what?the power will be coming from generator 220Vac 1KV and is for home use if it works i will use 5kv
Hi HaraldSo what?
220 V
1 kV or
5 kV?
ok lets work on 22ampAssuming 5 kVa, thats max. 22 A @ 220 V or 16.7 A @ 300 V.
Far from 50 A.
It is either 5 kV or 220 V. You can't have both. What is it?if my experiment works i will switch to 5kv generator 220Vac,
Seems your level of understanding doesn't include correct units. Makes me wonder whether we should support your dealing with such dangerous power levels. Please see my responses below:
1) yes i do, but not advance level
@dragon : Please stay off this discussion.Does an ordinary half bridge rectifier work?
the generator is is 220Vac 5500 wats. But 1st i want to try with 220Vac 1000watsIt is either 5 kV or 220 V. You can't have both. What is it?

not sure ,that is why i need help what i can useDoes an ordinary half bridge rectifier work?
i am have basic not advance knowledge, but capable to do my project just need help of what to use for the conversion to dc,i really apricated your helpIt is either 5 kV or 220 V. You can't have both. What is it?

yes that correct ,my mistypingI think you mean 1kva....and 5kva ...BUT....neither will give you 50a.
Hi Kellys,Without even knowing what you intend to do with such current/voltage levels I can be quite certain that it is both dangerous (potentially fatal) and IDIOTIC give your admitted level of knowledge of the issue.
