Hi there, I'm hoping to get some best practises on prototyping in order to test various components in an audio circuit. Specifically, we have some voltage regulators in some very small packages that are too small to hand solder. What are options to test these, if they do not come with any eval kit/dev board?

Why test them?

They have predictable parameters as per their data sheet so if those values meet your requirement then simply use them.

Are you expecting them to be problematic? If so, in what way?

The alternative would be to make your own adapter boards and fly leads.

One of the largest variables will be how these are soldered.

BGA parts can exhibit lower reliability sure to poor soldering. This is especially true if you're doing it at home.

Mill-max, Plastronics, Ironwood, etc. make a variety of test sockets for BGA and QFN packages if that's what you're looking for.

Proto Advantage makes SMD adapter boards.

I have a method for attaching wires to QFN devices then fixing them in a DIP carrier for use on a breadboard.
