Cross Reference for a Hewlett Packard 1855-0566?

I can't find an equivalent in any of my cross-references for this component (it's a TO-3 package device). Does anybody happen to know what it is?

Very good find. But I can't find 1855-0566.
Interestingly, when I use the search function looking for 1855-0566 locks onto 1855-0598 which is indeed a VN2222LL. The VN2222LL (datasheet), however, comes in a TO-92 case, not TO3.

Why?
1855.0566 has no match. The part numbers in the document you linked are with a hyphen:


And the case size doesn't match anyway.

Yes, I found that one, but the op asked not for -0556 but for -0566. Maybe a typo, who knows. We'll have to wait for feedback from @shrtrnd .

It's actually a 1855-0566, no mistake. The only thing I can figure is maybe it was a proprietary part specifically ordered by HP for this instrument.
HP6944A Series 200 Multiprogrammer.
The manual just lists it as a FET made by, you guessed it, Hewlett Packard.
I'm probably SOL, unless I find me a scrap unit to salvage the part from.

Get this, for anybody interested in trivia on this instrument:
The instrument also has a blown VSK3040T, which is a 30A, center-tapped dual schottky rectifier.
So far, the only company that my company will allow me to buy it from, wants $1800 for one each made by Varo,.
... I'd like to wring the neck of whoever the engineer was that designed the power supplies in this thing.
