D.I.Y Speakers-Tweeter Problem :-(

I have recently bought some tweeter capacitors for my tweeters (so they can work like tweeters) but I connected it up and it just passed audio through and I even played a low frequency and the tweeter was acting like a woofer! I knew this wasn't right so I connected it up a different way and it still did the same. I got it from amazon and for a second I thought they hadn't named it right, because they definitely got the picture wrong! I don't understand why it is not working. Can anybody give me some guidance please! :)

The value looks rather large for a tweeter capacitor. I would expect around 22uF not 3300uF. Formula for frequency roll off = 1/2*pi*R*C = 1/2*pi*8*22uF = 904 Hz The 3330uF cap will have frequency roll off of 1/2*pi*8*3300uF = 6Hz so this is why your tweeter is responding to pretty much all frequencies.

A 3300uF capacitor will pass the entire audio spectrum into a 4Ω or 8Ω speaker. The -3dB point is 12Hz for a 4Ω and 6Hz for an 8Ω. This is not a useful capacitor for a tweeter crossover.

So, your results are as expected.

A tweeter crossover would be on the order of 10uF, depending on the speaker impedance and the crossover frequency you want.
